It’s now easier than ever for you to run your freelance business from your pocket with the launch of Upwork’s new iOS app—available on the app store.
Just like our old app, you can search for jobs, chat with clients, view projects, and send files. But the new app adds a more user-friendly interface with convenient access to features our community of freelancers and agencies use the most.
Of course, with exciting news often comes a lot of questions. We’ve answered a few of the most common ones below.
As a freelancer, what do I need to do to use the new iOS app?
Download the new iOS app and log in using your existing credentials. That’s it! Your account info and data will be waiting for you there.
Once I’ve downloaded the new iOS app should I delete the old one?
If you exclusively use Upwork as a freelancer or agency (i.e., to find projects), you can delete the old app.
If you use Upwork as both freelancer AND as a client, you should keep both apps for now. The new iOS app is currently for freelancers only, but will eventually become the sole app for all Upwork users, clients included. We’ll let you know when that happens.
Are all features accessible through the new iOS app?
We made sure to include all of the functionality our community of freelancers and agencies use the most. Now, you can easily:
- Search for jobs
- Access messages
- Submit proposals
- Manage contracts
- View projects
- Send files
- Get paid
- Get notifications
- Link payment accounts
- Verify your identity when submitting proposals for U.S. jobs
Important note: Freelancers working with Upwork Enterprise clients will need to continue using their desktop to complete some actions.
When will the app include tools for clients?
Client access to the new iOS app will be part of the second phase of the app rollout. For now, clients can continue to use the old app or mobile website to access Upwork on the go. We will let you know you as soon as the new app becomes available to clients.
Why are there two Upwork apps in the iOS store?
While the new Upwork iOS app puts critical features for freelancers in one place, functionality needed by clients is still in the works. Until the new app can meet everyone’s needs, we will maintain the old app to help provide a seamless transition.
Will Upwork roll out a new app for Android users?
The Upwork Android app will be released shortly.
Watch the Upwork blog for updates on app improvements and new releases. In the interim, we look forward to hearing your thoughts about the new app! Provide feedback or contact the app development team through the Upwork community.
